Metric 24° Female Swivel

Light Series (L) · Heavy Series (S) · ISO 8434-1 connection family  ·  Material SS316L

Application

Connection of a metric 24° female swivel end to a matching male connection. Match the thread, tube-size reference and L or S series on both components. This page concerns the threaded connection; hose crimping and cutting-ring assembly require separate instructions.

Before you start

Isolate and fully depressurise the system. Confirm the exact sealing design against the product drawing. Use suitable spanners, a calibrated torque wrench and the approved lubricant compatible with the seal and service fluid.

01

Inspect

Clean both components. Inspect threads, cone surfaces and any specified O-ring for contamination or damage. Replace damaged components before assembly.

02

Prepare & align

Apply the lubricant specified for the exact component combination. Align the connection without side load. Do not apply thread-sealing tape to this cone-sealed connection.

03

Engage by hand

Start the swivel nut by hand. Ensure smooth engagement and correct seating without forcing the connection. Keep the hose in its intended position without twisting.

04

Hold & tighten

Hold the mating body with a backup spanner. Tighten the swivel nut using the released, product-specific SS316L procedure and value. Do not use the reference tables below for assembly.

Tightening data

Do not use REFERENCE DATA ONLY — NOT INTERMEC SS316L ASSEMBLY VALUES. The tables reproduce Parker's metric female swivel values for zinc-plated steel, Bulletin C4400-A/UK, page Ab-23. They show the proposed table layout. No stainless-steel correction has been applied.

¹ Tube outside-diameter reference in mm; not hose bore. The same thread can occur in different series. Do not select a connection or tightening value by thread alone.

Final checks

Check alignment, hose twist and visible damage. Complete the specified system leak test under controlled conditions. Never check for leaks by hand or tighten a pressurised connection.

Disassembly & reassembly

Fully depressurise before loosening. Inspect the mating surfaces and seals. Follow the released seal-replacement and reassembly procedure; this draft does not authorise reuse or specify retightening values.
